CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENTS – DAS RACIST and OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW!

CUAB is unlimitedly pleased to announce that we’ve got TWO SUPER SWEET AWESOME CONCERTS at UNC next month, on back-to-back days.

On November 11th in Gerrard Hall, Das Racist will be rapping to you as well as leading you in a discussion on race and hip-hop in modern America. Hailed by the Village Voice as “role models” and DJ Magazine as “brilliant,” Das Racist’s blend of whimsical humor and serious social critique has got the internet on straight lockdown, kid. And now they’re coming to UNC to completely tear the roof off of the whole University, even the parts of UNC that never had roofs to start out with. For a quick primer on Das Racist, check out their most recent free mixtape, Sit Down, Man, and then check out some interviews they’ve done here and here. Also, they are famous for their song “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell,” a song which is really good and really hilarious but not really completely representative of their whole ouvre. Also also, their name is pronounced “Das Racist” as in “Glass Faces,” not “Das Boot.” And the best thing? Tickets are only $1 at the door with your OneCard and $5 for everyone else! Check back later once we’ve created a Facebook event and then you will get more excited because you can show all your friends how cool you are because you’re going to see Das Racist. Joining them will be DJs Fonyx and Stumble, two of the rockinest DJs this side of the Haw River Valley.

THE VERY NEXT NIGHT, Memorial Hall will be hosting none other than Old Crow Medicine Show! Their unique sound, which recontextualizes American roots music by imbuing it with a modern rock sensibility, produces music much more interesting and fun than my description just made them sound. For ticket info as well as some other deets, check the concert’s Facebook event.

BASICALLY, ZOMG EXCITEMENT.
